Job Description :

Under general supervision, provides professional and technical work in the planning, design, analysis, implementation, integration, management, and support of web technology in an Internet and Intranet environment. Coordinates the City’s front-end web site development and maintenance; writes, reviews, organizes, and publishes approved information; develops web site pages utilizing available web-based technology; ensures compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act, state statutes and any other appropriate regulations. Reports to the Assistant Director of Information Technology or designee.

Specific Duties and Responsibilities

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

Responsible for creating, updating, and maintaining the City’s Internet and Intranet websites on a timely basis.

  • Responsible for integrating and maintaining the City’s internal applications into the web (i.e. GIS, Click2Gov, Laserfiche, etc.).
  • Coordinates and maintains publication of all general public information for the website.
  • Creates and publishes content in compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act.
  • Meets with departmental representatives and coordinates individual department information for inclusion in departmental websites.
  • Utilizing advanced grammar and AP-style copy/editing skills, writes, develops, and reviews information for placement on the web site; creates digital graphics.
  • Prepares file layouts and required documentation; documents web designs.
  • Aids department staff members in the creation and implementation of departmental web pages.
  • Analyzes requirements for new web-based applications through meetings with user departments.
  • Trains users and operators on systems.
  • Develops automation techniques for end users for posting data to the website.
  • Interacts with citizens regarding their inquiries about the website, government departments and information.
  • Assists in troubleshooting website components.
  • Collects and analyzes website usage information and prepares reports as requested.
  • Provides technical expertise in the selection of third-party web-based applications.
  • Installs, configures, upgrades, maintains and troubleshoots web servers.
  • Serves as the Database Administrator (DBA), as needed, for web servers throughout the City.
  • Stays abreast of new programming languages and tools available to enhance web development.
  • Assists in the development and maintenance of the website standards policy.
  • Assists in providing support for Internet hardware/software.
  • Designs and implements database applications relating to the website.
  • Performs other duties as assigned and/or required.

ADDITIONAL JOB FUNCTIONS

Perform other related duties as required.
Occasionally drives a City vehicle to multiple work sites.

Minimum Training and Experience

Requires a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with major course work in Computer Science, Information Technology, Management Information Systems, or related field. Requires two (2) years of experience working in professional web development, including experience working with HTML, ASP, VBScript, Visual Studio.NET, CSS, PHP, JavaScript, MS SQL and general network communications, Microsoft SharePoint or Microsoft SharePoint Online, Microsoft Windows Internet Information Services (IIS), Apache Tomcat and SSL Certificates, or equivalent combination of training and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities. Experience with relational databases such as Microsoft SQL Server databases is preferred.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $59,396.00 – $79,262.00 per year
