Job Description :

Prospect Mold is hiring a Mold Designer.

The Mold Designer is responsible for the completion of designs based on supplied information from either a Senior Designer, Project Manager or VP of Engineering. All aspects of the design following the initial layout, and 3D tool component model will be the responsibility of the Designer, as well as subsequent releases to manufacturing.

Duties:

• Complete the design following the initial layout or instruction/ guidance of a Senior Designer.
• Review all customer standards to ensure that the final design is in conjunction with all customer specifics.
• Work with a Senior Mold Designer as needed thru the completion of the design project.
• Review all designs for D.F.M.A.
• Generate 3D and 2D complete designs according to department and customer standards.

Climate:

Work is done in conjunction with others (Senior Designers, Project Managers, VP of engineering). A designer must be conscious regarding documenting critical aspects of the design projects. A designer will be subject to time and deadline pressures. The majority of time is spent working at a CAD workstation. Pay is on an hourly basis and all time is direct labor on specific design projects.

Preferable Characteristics:

• Minimum of 1-3 years of experience in 3D or 2D Designing of Aerospace Tooling, Plastic Injection Mold, Dies, Assembly equipment and/or machinery.
• Basic Machining Skills and Manufacturing understanding.
• CATIA, NX (Unigraphics), Solidworks or other 3D modeling experience
• Enjoy working in a team environment, interpersonal skills.

Preferred Skills:

• 3D CAD capabilities.
• Blueprint reading.
• Great math skills.
• Understanding manufacturing / machinery.

Softwear: NX required, Catia preferred, Solidworks, other.
