Job Description :

Meritor is looking for a motivated individual to fill an EHS role. This position will provide support of day-to-day operations of the company’s safety program.

Overview:

The person chosen for this role is expected to lead by example in the following areas:

  • Provides technical support on health, safety and environmental to production and site personnel under the guidance of the site HSE leader
  • Assists in the review and sustainability of Health, Safety and Environmental Management Systems
  • Maintains skills and knowledge required to perform job duties
  • Builds an understanding of HSE initiatives, policies, procedures and regulatory requirements.
  • Build an understanding of and applies HSE culture ensuring it is integral to processes
  • Maintain confidentiality and appropriate recordkeeping standards in line with corporate data protection and retention requirements
  • Maintain best practice Safety, and Housekeeping standards with continuous emphasis on ISO 14001 and 45001
  • Leads Safety Committee to identify, implement and promote environmental and safety projects
  • Hold themselves and team members accountable for results
  • Back up EHS Manager when they are unavailable

Responsibilities – Essential functions:

  • Production floor presence and liaison for EHS with employees , Team Leads and Supervisors.
  • Conducts HSE new hire orientation
  • Assists in first responder duties including treatment, injury, illness, incident record keeping through internal reporting processes
  • Conduct environmental, health and safety facility, compliance and system audits
  • Facilitate robot and Authorized lock out tag out, confined space, hot work and site specific training and schedule with departments
  • Plan and track HSE improvement projects from suggestions to completion
  • Assists in closure of corrective and preventive actions
  • Communicate effectively to create HSE awareness
  • Deliver on objectives and targets
  • Assists in maintenance of local HSE policies, procedures and regulatory requirements
  • Support health, safety, environmental and wellness initiatives.
  • Participate in focus team meetings to drive an interdependent culture
  • Filing paper documentation in employee folders
  • Service all departments as needed to organize containers for all recycling waste streams, such as cardboard, wood, plastic, metal, paper, etc.
  • Comply with and support all Meritor local and corporate policies, including ISO 45001 Safety Policies, ISO14001 Environmental Policies and Procedures, and Site Procedures.
  • Report any discrepancies and/or safety issues promptly to assure corrective measures implemented
  • Project management
  • Developing and delivering multi-mode communications that convey a clear understanding of the unique needs of different audiences
  • Flexible to work any shift and overtime to complete other work assignments as needed
  • All other job tasks as required by leadership

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree with emphasis on occupational safety and health and environmental or an equivalent combination of training and experience
  • 3-5 year’ s experience in a manufacturing environment
  • Good written and verbal communication skills
  • Self-motivated to take actions that achieve the goals of the company in a safe manner
  • Excellent attendance and time management
  • Ability to follow directions
  • Computer skills preferred
  • Prior experience training small groups.
  • Must be willing to work a flexible work schedule
  • Ability to work independently and effectively in a team environment
  • Ability to adapt to changing work situations
  • Experience with Microsoft Office programs (i.e. Excel, Power Point, Word)

Physical Demands (if applicable):

  • Must be able to physically access all areas of the plant with reasonable accommodations
  • Must be able to distinguish colors
  • Ability to bend and reach safely
  • Ability to stand or walk at least 75% of the work day
  • Must be able to access all areas of the facility and meet other physical requirements of the position and work scheduled overtime requirements

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $20.00 – $24.50 per hour

  • Manufacturing Safety and OSHA: 1 year (Required)

License/Certification:

  • OSHA 10 (Preferred)
  • OSHA 30 (Preferred)

Shift availability:

  • Night Shift (Required)
