Job Description :
Position Overview: The primary role of the Electrical Controls Engineer is to lead or participate in project teams across the plant. This role also provides support to manufacturing operations as needed to ensure plant assets are producing quality products at the required rates. This position reports to plant engineering.
Responsibilities Would Include:
- Support all aspects of control system execution, from hardware design, system design, network design, software development and commissioning (PLC, PC and/or Instrumentation related systems
- Manage vendors to provide services ensuring that plant standards and best practices are followed
- Be an internal subject matter resource for all control systems (PLC, HMI, Drives, etc.), system integration, sensors, electromechanical devices, and instrumentation.
- Provide input for the plant controls strategy to establish and maintain plant standards
- Make programming changes in support of department engineers as they test/make improvements to the process to include basic PLC and HMI programming.
- Make recommendations for improving function and reliability of control systems
- Develop process and equipment understanding to support continuous improvement efforts
- Appropriately develop and maintain document equipment and control system changes
- Maintain records as required. (Project plans, schematics, drawings, spare parts, calibration logs, repair logs, etc.)
- Keep safety equipment calibrated and fully functional
- Provide emergency support when needed
Preferred Education and Experience:
- B.S. in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or equivalent
- 2-5 years in an engineering or technical role
- Technical Curiosity toward machine/process control and automation technologies
- Experience with Allen Bradley’s Logix 5000 and Micro 800 Family of PLCs and PACs
- Experience programming in RSLogix 5/500/5000
- Experience programming motor controls to include VFDs and Servo systems.
- Experience solving problems with electrical circuits and instrumentation
- Proficiency with schematics and wiring diagrams
- Highly motivated, results oriented, customer focused, with a high commitment level
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to work on a team
- Sound problem-solving skills and disciplined approach to making decisions
- Excellent interpersonal, leadership, verbal, and written skills
- Ability to deal with all levels of the organization
- HMI development using Factory Talk View ME, Studio 5000 View Designer, Ignition, or WonderWare Systems Platform
Additional Requirements:
- Knowledge of Industrial standards pertaining to code development, networking, machine/process safety
- Knowledge or interest of computer programming languages (python, java, c# etc.)
- Experience with other controls systems Siemens, Modicon, B&R
- Ability to observe all safety rules and OSHA regulations and performs job in a safe manner
- Maintain good housekeeping and 5S
