Job Description
The Associate Editor is responsible for a variety of needs throughout the editorial development process, with focus on content development and quality assurance review. The Associate Editor reports to the Editorial Director.

Core Duties
Editorial development:

Work collaboratively with Senior Editor in maintaining product quality through product revisions, including rewrites and other modifications.

  • Responsible for manuscript proofreading and formatting prior to layout/loading.
  • In partnership with Senior Editor, responsible for online QA review
  • Develop, demonstrate, and incorporate a working knowledge of ELA trends with a focus on standards for grades 9–12.
  • Effectively research, plan, and write instructional support materials that align to company and project instructional goals, adhere to our house style guide, and meet our standards of editorial excellence.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Arts in English, literature, education or related field.
  • Two years of writing or edtiorial experience.
  • Proficiency in MS Office Suite of Products (Word, Excel, Outlook)
  • Expert grasp of grammar and conventions, especially Chicago Manual of Style
  • An eye for detail and ability to concentrate on projects for extended time periods
  • Ability to work with others and communicate editorial changes clearly and coherently.
  • Knowledge of classic literature and educational trends
