Job Description :

This position is responsible for providing direct assistance to the Controller in 1) preparation and analyses of financial statements, management, and profitability reports, 2) coordination of accounting and regulatory audits, 3) supervising the daily activities of the accounting staff including planning, prioritizing and delegating the workload of the accounting function, 4) assisting in the annual budgeting process, and 5) establishing and maintaining internal accounting controls and promoting process improvement initiatives.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Accounting or Finance, or equivalent.
  • Minimum of five years financial accounting experience, with two years of management experience.
  • CPA candidate.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite products with intermediate to advanced knowledge of Excel spreadsheets.
  • 10-key adding machine by touch.
  • Strong accounting and analytical skills.
  • Good oral, interpersonal and written communication skills required.
  • Accuracy, attention to detail, flexibility and ability work under pressure.
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to prioritize, and handle multiple tasks/projects simultaneously to meet deadlines are essential.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Effectively manages the daily activities of the department to ensure timely recordation of accurate and compliant accounting records.
  • Supervises accounting staff and their work and resolves problems/issues that arise.
  • Oversees the preparation and timely submittal of the quarterly regulatory Call Report to the FDIC, including review of any changes or updates to reporting requirements.
  • Assists in the review and analysis of the monthly preliminary income statement.
  • Ensures timely preparation of accurate financial statements.
  • Reviews reconciliation of various general ledger accounts to assure that accounting transactions are being properly reconciled, recorded and maintained.
  • Ensures timely completion of audit deliverables and efficient performance during various audits, including internal and external examinations.
  • Reviews various audit schedules and work paper analyses for completion and accuracy.
  • Using applicable accounting standards and financial principles, performs analyses of financial statements/reports, investigates significant variances, fluctuations and discrepancies and is able to clearly describe variances verbally and/or in writing.
  • Oversees the preparation of the monthly analysis of financial performance write-ups.
  • Researches questions and issues related to financial and regulatory reporting.
  • Reviews monthly/quarterly tax calculation and analysis for financial reporting purposes.
  • Assists in the completion of the annual budgeting process.
  • Develops procedures and systems to streamline and improve efficiency of various reporting functions, including financial statement preparation, and management reporting systems.
  • Maintains the department’s disaster recovery plan.
  • Maintains the department’s business continuity plan.
  • Maintains the department’s vendor management activities and performs annual financial analyses for Company-wide vendors.
  • Assists with special projects.

OTHER FUNCTIONS

  • Develops, implements, and complies with company policies, procedures, and controls
  • Performs all other tasks, as assigned

WORKING CONDITIONS / OTHER REQUIREMENTS

Requires sitting for several hours, wrist twisting, fine motor manipulations, must hear quiet conversation. Work is performed at a desk on a computer in an office setting.
